List Building Step by Step Free Instructions, Written PLR Offers for This Week

Published: Mon, 07/25/22

Hi ! Here's a task for you to put on your to-do list today. I'm going to put it on my list too. If we manage to get this done, we each get a gold star. Or an ice cream. Whatever reward works for you.

The task is to either activate a FORM to grow your list from your website today... OR... change an element of your existing form to start getting more sign-ups.

I know firsthand that transitioning from "offering services" to "selling info products from your inbox" is not easy. But I'm here to show you the way.

Steps to create or re-create your signup form:

  1. Log into your autoresponder. Don't have one yet? Sign up for Aweber.
  2. Start a new list... or navigate to your existing list that you never finished setting up.
  3. Navigate to the Forms area and create a new one. Make it look nice. Decide what type of design you might want to try. Here are the types:

Post your form on your website.

When you're ready to post your form, navigate to the Publish area. You'll be given a choice of either HTML or Javascript code to copy and paste. The problem with HTML is that each time you change an element of the form's code in Aweber or whatever program you use, you must go back into all areas of your blog where you've posted the form, and copy and paste the latest version of the code from Aweber or whomever, to your site.

If you choose Javascript, the form code updates every place where you've posted it. So you only have to update it from the originating source (like Aweber), to have the form's changes automatically show up anywhere you've posted the script for that form.

The problem with Javascript is that some people choose to block Javascript from their browsers.

You can also set up a Landing Page where people can sign up for your list.

Another thing to try is setting up a landing page. In Aweber, you get the option to create a landing page using their templates. Then you can get sign-ups from that page simply by adding an inline form to the landing page. Hit publish, and they will generate a link to your landing page. You want to link to that page from your blog or website. If it's WordPress, you can add this to your navigation menu by adding a page and selecting "link to a page from an outside source."

What can you do to get more signups?

Set up a free giveaway. Create a quick guide for people to learn what you know. Don't overthink this. Just keep two things in mind. Teach them something, and then guide them to an action, like buying a paid product or purchasing through your aff link, or contacting you for coaching.

Start by putting up a simple but compelling persuasive message. Your perfect customer wants something. Do you deliver? If you provide something you know that some people will benefit from having, talk about that, and how you can teach them what you know. Then set up a mini e-guide to give them some information they didn't have before.

To make the guide: Write 5-10 articles (or purchase them as PLR, then tweak to reflect your own views and opinions). Add a title, your company URL and branding. At the back, add your bio and upsells to coaching packages or your services.

Copy and paste the text from your mini guide that you created into Canva. Download as a PDF. Make sure the links that go to your upsells such as your coaching services or a paid ebook open to a new page.
Upload the PDF to your website's hosting server and make it go live.

Create a welcome email after people sign up for your list. You would use the Campaigns or Follow-Up series area of your Aweber or other list manager that's associated with your forms you just created, to do this.

In your welcome message, thank your reader for signing up, and then present their free guide along with the direct link so they can download it.

Do you have to create a mini guide for people to download? No. You can simply tell them what they'll get when they sign up for your list. But the download does seem to attract more subscribers. So try it and see if it increases the number of people who sign up for your list.

What if you're not getting a lot of sign-ups? Try doing different things, such as...

Setting up MORE forms. One inline form to show up in the header. One for the sidebar (again, only shows up when people view your site from a PC, though). One for the footer. One from a landing page. One for the bottom of each blog post you write. One as a pop-over.

You can have ALL the forms on your site go to one list. OR you can segment your list. This is a lot to think about. So start with the one form. Then make a plan to begin communciating with your readers, same as I'm writing to you now and sharing information that hopefully helps you.

You can also play around with the lead-in message that you use to introduct your form and list. Maybe put a picture of yourself. One of my most successful forms got me a nice big list (fast) on my gardening website that had my husband's picture posted there. It made people feel like they knew him, and the audience was VERY defined.

One more thing. Do I know you, and what you do? Maybe I don't! I can't help you find great content to make digital products from if I don't know what you do. Introduce yourself and your business, if you haven't yet.

I say this because one of my customers reached out. I finally discovered what she does based on her internal email that she uses. I found out she's an Energy Healer. Well, that cracked open a whole new world! I can pick out select PLR articles sets that we have available at Wordfeeder for her to customze. This is huge! If you're ever wondering if there's content that I have created which is right for your audience, just ask me. Send a quick email to dina@wordfeeder.com.
