What to Work on During a Disruption

Published: Wed, 06/07/23

Hi ,

Everything is designed to be disruptive nowadays. Facebook prompts you to react. No. That's wrong. Reactions are for the masses.

Your goal should be to act, not react. Others can follow. That's how you lead.

Today in New Jersey, USA, we've got air quality problems coming from the Canada wildfires. Yes, all the way down here. How far does it go? I don't know. Have you been affected?

Out my window, it looks like the start of the apocalypse. Got my air purifiers cranked. I will clean the air with a spray of essential oils and water again today. Don't forget that simple solutions often work the best.

If you've ever worked for an employer, you know what happens when there's a disruption. People stop working.

"Oh no, the server is down. Can't work." "Oh no, there's a storm. Let's all look out the window and not work."

We can't do that when we work for ourselves. It's a day's productivity out the window. Money down the drain for your little business.

So what happens when you send an email and no one buys because they're all looking out the window? Pivot on those background tasks that need to happen. Some ideas for you…
